Nutritional Vitamin Fiber Supplements

Nutritional vitamin fiber supplements are a very important type of carbohydrate necessary to keeping our bodies healthy. Although fiber vitamin supplements cannot be digested, sufficient amounts of dietary fiber are needed by the digestive system to help sweep waste material out of our bodies and reduce our cholesterol absorption.

Research has shown that people who consume proper amounts of fiber have a lower risk of developing certain types of the most common chronic diseases like hypertension and heart disease. Fiber also keeps our digestive system working properly. As with other important nutrients, most of us do not get enough good fiber from our regular eating habits.

Dietary fiber can be classified into two types; water-insoluble and water-soluble. Both types go through the digestive tract without being digested but they are equally important to the digestive process. Insoluble fibers do not dissolve in water but attract water and increases in bulk in order to improve bowel movement. In other words, insoluble fibers normally act as laxatives. Foods naturally rich in insoluble fibers include cereals, whole grains, seeds, carrots, tomatoes, wheat and rice bran.

Water-soluble fibers, meanwhile, work to reduce the absorption of sugars and starches during digestion. This considerably lowers bad cholesterol (LDL) and lessens the risk of chronic illnesses, especially cardiovascular problems. Some examples of soluble fibers are nuts, oats, beans, apples, and blueberries.

Fiber can be found in most whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, beans, and grains. Many of these foods actually contain both soluble and insoluble fiber. However, most of us don’t include nearly enough of these foods with our daily nutrition. Ideally, we should all add more fiber-rich foods to our daily nutrition. Nutritional vitamin fiber supplements offer an effective and convenient way to help with our body’s fiber needs. Many of these supplements include both soluble and insoluble fibers.

The three most common kinds of nutritional vitamin fiber supplements in the market currently are psyllium, methylcellulose and polycarbophil. Psyllium helps digestion by regulating intestinal movement, while also reducing cholesterol absorption. Methylcellulose has the same action as pysllium, though it is synthetic. Polycarbophil is a drug usually prescribed for long-term use to treat constipation, diarrhea and other similar problems.

Fiber is an important requirement needed for healthy bodies. Proper daily fiber in our nutrition helps with proper digestion, combats diarrhea and constipation, as well as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and hemorrhoids. It has long term health benefits too due to its action against the absorption of cholesterol. It lowers the risk of having high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease. Studies also suggest that it benefits diabetics as well, by lowering the levels of insulin and blood sugar. Some inconclusive research implies that it may help prevent Type II diabetes as well.

With all of the benefits that fiber provides for our bodies it is import that we each get enough with our daily nutrition. For most of us, it is important to add nutritional vitamin fiber supplements to our diets to help balance out our daily fiber needs.
